How alto.index gets access
alto.index never asks for Full Disk Access. When you connect a source, it asks you to pick the one folder that app keeps its data in, and the folder panel opens right at it. It reads from that folder and never changes anything in it. Screenshots is the one exception: it asks for Photos access, because most originals live in iCloud.
A source says the folder is wrong
The folder you picked does not hold that source's data, and alto.index names what it was looking for. Pick the folder the panel opens at, or press Cmd+Shift+G and paste the path.
A source stopped syncing after an update or a move
Open the source's card, disconnect it, and connect it again. Pick the folder it suggests. Everything you already exported stays where it is.
Screenshots can't be read
Turn on Photos access for alto.index in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Photos.
Sync seems stuck or not working
- Click Sync Now on the source's card
- Check the alto-index folder inside the folder you picked, to see if files are being created
- If a source's files look wrong, Full Resync removes only the files alto.index wrote and exports that source again
Some notes are missing
alto.index reads the notes stored on your Mac. If notes are missing:
- Open Apple Notes and wait for all notes to download from iCloud
- Check that the notes are not unticked in the source's card
- Run Sync Now
A source still shows a price after you bought it
Open Settings, click restore purchases, and tell us if it stays locked.
