Connect Claude Desktop to your Apple data through alto.index
What is the alto.index Extension?
A Claude Desktop extension that enables Claude to access your Apple Notes, Mail, Calendar, and Messages data through alto.index's local MCP server. All communication happens locally on your Mac.
Installation Instructions
Download the Extension
Click the download button above to get the altoindex-1.0.0.dxt file.
Install the Extension
Double-click the downloaded altoindex-1.0.0.dxt file. It will automatically open in Claude Desktop for installation.
Start alto.index MCP Server
Open alto.index, go to the MCP tab, and click "Start Server". The server runs on port 8743.
Ready to Use!
Claude can now access your Apple data through alto.index tools. Try asking Claude to search your notes!

Troubleshooting
"Cannot connect to alto.index"
Make sure alto.index is running and the MCP server is started (green status in MCP tab)
Extension not appearing
Restart Claude Desktop after installation. The extension should appear in your available tools
Port conflicts
The default port is 8743. If you've changed it in alto.index, you may need to reinstall the extension
