# Export Chrome Bookmarks to Markdown

Alto Index writes the bookmarks of each Chrome profile on your Mac as one Markdown file, a section per folder, kept in sync. The first 100 are free.

Your Chrome bookmarks, a Markdown file per Chrome profile.

## What you get

- One Markdown file per Chrome profile, a section per folder, each bookmark a link

## Where the files go

```
alto-index/chrome-bookmarks/Default.md
alto-index/chrome-bookmarks/Profile 1.md
```

## What you choose

- Tick the folders to export, profile by profile

## Left out

- Chrome's trash, and bookmarks your organization manages
- The file is named by the profile's folder (Default, Profile 1), not the name Chrome shows

## Free and paid

Your first 100 bookmarks export and keep syncing free. Then one purchase unlocks Chrome bookmarks: on its own, as one of any three apps, or with all of them. See [pricing](/pricing).

## With Claude

The [MCP server](/mcp) lets Claude Desktop search your bookmarks, and `/altoindex:safari` in the [Claude plugin](/claude-plugin) browses bookmarks.
